PURPOSE

WHY THIS EDITION EXISTS.

The Motown Missile has never lacked a story. What it has lacked is a written account that treats that story as something to be tested rather than repeated. The first edition of this report is that account.

The owner’s investment rationale connects historical significance, provenance, engineering, scarcity and preservation to collector appeal. That is a sound opening position and a poor finishing one. Marketing can introduce a claim; evidence has to carry it — and most of the claims circulating around historic competition cars are carried by nothing at all, just repetition.

So the purpose here is deliberately narrow. It is to give a collector, an adviser or a family office one source-referenced document that separates what is actually known about this car and this market from what merely sounds impressive, and to leave every reader better able to ask the next question rather than to repeat the last headline.

Marketing can introduce a claim. Evidence must carry it.
COVERAGE

WHAT THE FIRST EDITION COVERS.

Twenty-five chapters run in four strands. Each keeps its denominators honest: nothing is added to something that measures a different thing.

Framing and market

Chapters 1–7

Why a good rationale is not yet an investable question, how collectible-vehicle categories differ, and what the large published numbers really measure — vehicle stock, trade inside an insurance book, national economic contribution and wealth populations are kept apart rather than added together.

Evidence and the object

Chapters 8–13

Selected reported sales read for comparability rather than awe, the approximately $18 million example examined as a lead, closer Mopar and drag-racing context, and the argument that a legend premium has to attach to a specific, inspectable car.

Ownership, economics and risk

Chapters 14–20

Separating the historical record from present readiness, stewardship as a real cost, a hypothetical five-year cash model with entry, holding and exit friction, four price paths, break-even sensitivity and an explicit risk register.

Diligence, sale process and resources

Chapters 21–25

The file to request before a bid, how a specialist sale actually runs, ways to improve confidence without manufacturing value, a collector resource desk, and a closing statement of method and limitations.

LIMITATIONS

WHAT THIS EDITION DOES NOT CLAIM.

A report about a car for sale cannot grade its own homework, so the boundaries are stated plainly instead. If any one of these matters more to you than the analysis itself, that is a reasonable place to stop reading and start asking your own questions.

  • It is seller-commissioned

Prepared by the Motown Missile project team with Felipe & Jeralin Soares / AEGIS OS. The team presents and markets this car and has a commercial interest in buyer engagement. Read the report as a party's case, not as a neutral third-party study.

  • It is not an appraisal

No appraisal, fairness opinion, investment recommendation, legal opinion, mechanical inspection or promised return is offered or implied. No price target, reserve or valuation range for this car appears anywhere in the edition.

  • It is not authentication

Identity, provenance and current condition remain subject to independent inspection and review. The 1970 donor and late-1971 racing presentation follow the owner-supplied account, and the vehicle-identification number is not published here pending verification.

  • Its sources are not endorsers

McKinsey, IBISWorld, Hagerty, Knight Frank, FIVA and the auction houses named in the register did not author, sponsor or endorse this work. They are cited because they publish data, and the data is read with its own caveats attached.

  • Its economics are illustrative

The ownership model runs on stated assumptions — a hypothetical $1,000,000 basis, 10% entry friction, $15,000 of annual holding cost and 8% exit friction over five years. On those inputs break-even works out to roughly 5.01% annual gross growth. That is arithmetic on assumptions, not a forecast, and no probability is attached to any outcome.

  • Its record has a cut-off

Research closes at 29 September 2026. Nothing published after that date is reflected, and no audited, harmonised 2026 global collector-car valuation was found in the reviewed evidence — none has been manufactured to fill the gap.

  • Its sale information is unconfirmed

Q1 2027 is a tentative window and january 30, 2027 is a working target. No auction house is appointed, no bidding link exists, and nothing in the edition states a price, a reserve, a bid or a level of demand.

  • Its primary document is a synopsis

Proof 10 is owner-supplied. The original file has not been ingested into this project, and the existing online booklet is not asserted to be the same edition. Where the report leans on that account, it says so.

Seller-commissioned collector research. The project team has a commercial interest in marketing the Motown Missile. This is not an independent appraisal, fairness opinion, investment recommendation or promised return. McKinsey, IBISWorld, Hagerty, Knight Frank, FIVA and auction houses are not authors, sponsors or endorsers.

WHAT COMES NEXT

THE SALE IS STILL TENTATIVE.

Publishing the report does not advance the sale. Q1 2027 remains a tentative window, the appointed specialist has not been named, and the auction details page keeps an explicit placeholder for every field that is still unconfirmed — house, format, start and end, registration, catalogue, terms and the bidding link itself.

When a partner is appointed, the official links go live there and the report does not change to flatter the moment. Its claims were written before any house was chosen, and they stay written that way.

Corrections are welcome and expected. If you find an error, write to motownmissile1970@gmail.com with the chapter and source number and we will fix it and update the edition record.
